Dual Ice Fishing
Derbies Reel 'Em In
 The
Burlington Elks Lodge and Islands Derby were both blessed by
good weather and ice for their annual events February 13-14,
'99. Turnout was good for both events and since they were
both on the same weekend anglers were able to compete in
both events simultaneously. The biggest fish was brought in
by Lee Perry and was an 18.57lb Northern Pike which won it's
class in both derbies.
 The
Elks Lodge Derby was named for Mike Chicione who was killed
in a car accident in 1985 while on the way to go fishing.
Both events were run by a team of volunteers. The Elks Derby
was headed by the "Past Exaulted Ruler" Ron LaRose. He said
that this will become an annual event for the Elks Lodge.
The Islands Derby was organized by Michale Gingras, Betty
Gingras, Tod Sudal, George Fowler and Gilbert Gonyea.
